We are pleased to
announce that we will be open longer on Saturdays (Shelter only, not the
Bazaar). After discussing the matter with our Board of Directors and
our employees it was decided that there was merit in staying open to the
general public until 5:00 pm instead of the previous 2:00 PM. The official Saturday hours are now 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
To accomplish this the employees agreed to take only one hour for lunch and have all hands stay until 5:00 PM. This accomplishes two objectives:
1. We are open longer on Saturday to accommodate members of the general public who work on Saturday and can not get in to see us before 2:00 PM.
2. By having all hands working until 5:00 PM it eliminates the need to have one worker come back in the afternoon to work after we are closed. All hands are now able to have a longer, uninterrupted evening on Saturday, not just a few.
The
intent is to try these new hours for 6 months to see if it will bring
increased adoptions for us. We will re-evaluate after 6 months. We
started the first Saturday in October.
