More Dogs for Adoption

Below are some more beautiful furry friends just waiting for you to take them home...
  
Patsy, she is blind and would need a special home. She is very sweet and loving. She does need to get acquainted with new people slowly since she can not see.

Milsha, young female, black lab mix. A lot of energy and likes everyone.

 

Bingo, about 1 year old, male, smaller in size. Likes people but not sure of all other dogs. Very happy boy.
 

Cookie, about 1 year old, she is a small female. Very shy.  She was in a home that did not treat her with love.  So, she needs love and attention to show her not everyone is bad. Loves her walks. And loves to cuddle.

Chiquis,  is a small dog. This girl is very very sweet, and loves hugs. She would want a bed indoors to be close to her family.

Ban Dam,  He is a younger Pit Bull mix. This guy is very friendly and likes everyone. Because he is so strong, he needs training and probably no young children. Doesn't like all dogs, so one dog family for him.

Duguesa, is a younger, smaller girl. Very friendly, gentle and loves everyone.

Tabatta, is a very sweet girl. about 4 years old. She has a limp due to a past injury on her leg but it doesn't stop her. She likes quiet places and her inside bed. Loves to roll in the sun and have her belly rubbed. She doesn't like all dogs. Her perfect home would be with an older couple, no other dogs and Lots of Love!!

These are just a few of the wonderful dogs waiting at our shelter for their Forever Home. Please stop by the shelter for a doggie hug and lick....you might become addicted!!

2016 Annual Champagne Brunch

About 7 weeks ago we rescued two puppies from a boat on Playa North. The puppies are now healthy, happy and ready for adoption.  The Vetrinary thinks they may be sisters even though they look very different.  They play well with our five dogs.  Canela and Chispa are full of love, energy, curiosity and anticipation for their new forever home.  The person that adopts them will have a life filled with love and happiness.  Don't miss this amazing experience.    Only committed and responsible individuals will be considere for adoption.  Please call Norma and Gabriel to meet Canela and Chispa. Litter of SEVEN

Puppies and then some!!!  This litter of SEVEN arrived about a week ago in apparent good health but, as with many litters, there is often a "runt" who just doesn't have the size or strength to get his/her share of food and water. The little guy in this case is getting special treatment to ensure that he gets enough to eat and drink and the results are beginning to show already.

These pups are too young to vaccinate but when the time comes they will be fully immunized and ready to go home.

Meet Bob

Meet Bob, one of our new guests.  Bob is very friendly but was very dirty with severely matted hair when he arrived.  Thanks to Mariel who took him home and gave him a bath and a haircut he now looks almost human again.  Mariel named him Bob, after Bob Marley.  Apparently Bob Marley and Bob had similar hair styles.

Bob needs to get his bill of health from our Vet but when he does Bob should have no trouble finding a new forever home.

Smitty - our Newest Resident

UPDATE ON SMITTY:

Smitty is coming out of his shell and is now a shelter favorite.  He is very loving with humans.  His eyes are brighter and his appetite is excellent.

Another sign of improvement is his feisty attitude towards other dogs that get too close to his living quarters when there is food present.  Again, not with people, only other dogs (and presumably cats too but we have not tested that theory yet).

It is still a long way to full recovery - i.e. a new coat, but his overall demeanor has demonstrated that he is on the mend.  About his leg (or paw) he is now putting weight on it by himself so that may become a self-healing issue.

Here is a photo of Smitty who came to us February 18, 2015!  He has been treated for worms and is now on medication for his hair loss (mange).  He also has a leg or paw that is not functioning but the Vet wants Smitty to gain more weight first and then he will work on the leg.

Smitty (aka Pelon)

Smitty is very quiet and gentle.  It will take some time but one day he will be well and available for a new home.

Thanks to John and Sharon for rescuing Smitty.  He was found near a golf course, obviously abandoned and covered in grime (probably motor oil) and dehydrated.  Unable to just leave Smitty where he was, John brought him home and Sharon gave him a bath (it took 1 1/2 hours to get the oil off).  The next day we received him at the shelter.

We have updated our DOGS page.  Please take a look at these sweet babies.  Note that Carla, Sadie and Blanca have lived at the shelter for many, many months.  They are waiting for that right person to open their heart to them and give them the love they deserve and in return, be your loving companion forever.

Lucky Puppies - GROWING!

These Lucky Puppy pictures shows how well they are growing in their foster homes!  Looks like there is a surrogate Mom involved in one household.  And for those whose heartstrings are 'playing' - they will all need good forever homes in a short while.  If you are interested, please stop by the shelter on Bicentenario and talk to them.

Look at some of those abandoned dogs!!

Pee-wee is the runt that didn't socialize with her litter mates in the beginning.  So, we decided to Foster her.

3 days ago, one of the other fosterers decided they couldn't care for 2 of the puppies any longer. So, we took them on as well.

As you can see, their eyes are completely open now, they're eating like little horses, and rough-housing.

Abandoned dogs

....abandoned dogs that I found tied to our door this morning.
I did a brief exam on them and they are both quite healthy - and happy!
They appear to be about 1 - 3 years of age, and are obviously housemates because they get upset if they're separated.

We are over-capacity and need to adopt out some pets that have been spayed/neutered, and are ready to find their forever family.
